In Europe Magos Herrera is one of the best kept secrets within the Latin American jazz scene. The Mexican singer lifts the art of singing and scatting towards a tremendously high level with her muscular but at the same time warm voice which breaths temptation and intimacy.

Her songs are not just delightful to escape the daily madness, at night she soaks you in a warm bath filled with the beauty of her music. Intense sultriness, passionate Mexican romance and sweaty rhythms from Brazil and Cuba all blend into a spiritual harmony.

Following the release of her album México Azul in 2011 journalist Wilbert Sostre wrote for the well-established magazine Jazz Times: “Magos Herrera is the Cassandra Wilson of Latin America. There are similartities in their warm, sultry tone, their bluesy feeling and strong command of the jazz language. Herrera is without a doubt the best jazz singer out of Mexico and with México Azul she is establishing herself among the best singers in jazz.”

Grammy nomination
The New York residing singer released seven albums so far; she was nominated for a Grammy in the category Best Jazz Vocalist; collaborated with huge names as Tim Ries, Lionel Loueke and John Patitucci; performed at prestigious international jazz festivals such as Montreal, New York, Barcelona and San Juan, but also The Netherlands where the audience was introduced to her at The Jazz Festival Delft in 2013.

When Magos’ magical voice has settled in your head, you only wish for one thing: push the repeat button to remain in that sanctifying mood. To witness Magos Herrera in concert is an intense experience in which the singer hypnotizes you with her amazing vocals. Currently Herrera collaborates with multple Grammy winner, producer and guitarist Javier Limon on a new album which will see the light of day in the first half of 2014.
